Main purpose of job:

This is an exciting time to join the UK’s Department for International Trade (DIT). Our aim is to secure UK and global prosperity by promoting and financing international trade and investment, and championing free trade. DIT works to help business succeed by:

This role will support the DIT Communications and Events Manager to deliver planned events and activities and provide support to DIT team to ensure all DIT initiatives and activities are successfully communicated to stakeholders.

Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:

  • Support the DIT Communications and Events Manager to deliver DIT Indonesia marketing and communication activities in partnership with DIT sector advisers, the embassy media and communications team, and marketing colleagues in both the region and UK.
  • Support the DIT Communications and Events Manger to deliver an annual programme of sector and corporate events, and VIP/senior official visits, working in partnership with DIT sector advisers and colleagues across the Embassy and local delivery partner. Specific responsibilities include: campaign and event coordination, logistics, validating the invitee contact details, sending invites and managing RSVPs, budgeting, event collaterals, managing briefing packs, etc.
  • Working with the DIT team and its partners, including banks, consultancies and trade associations to deliver joint events and activities which progress targets and objectives.
  • Support on content development of marketing collaterals and working with sector advisers to produce: sector propositions for UK companies on the opportunities and challenges of working in Indonesia, DIT content on Indonesia website, DIT Indonesia case studies and successful stories and other DIT Indonesia marketing collaterals
  • Working in partnership with sector teams and our delivery partners to bid for marketing budget, including planning and monitoring of marketing activities.
  • Support the DIT Communications and Events Manager on implementing the DIT brand on all marketing collaterals and communications activities and ensuring colleagues are aware of marketing and branding guidelines
  • Support the DIT Communications and Events Manager on developing content, posting messages on DIT social media channels; and working in partnership with the embassy’s Media and Communications team in contributing to embassy social media content.

Essential qualifications, skills and experience
  • At least 3 years’ event management experience, including planning, budgeting, produce briefing, logistics, liaise with suppliers, produce marketing collaterals, branding, etc.
  • At least 1 year’s copywriting experience (writing, editing, proof-checking and maintaining a consistent style and tone throughout the materials)
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and Bahasa Indonesia.
  • Editorial requirements include content structure and categorisation, content development, content source and research.
  • Pro-active and detail oriented with an ability to develop high quality content ideas and insights
  • Understand the basic best practices of the main social media channels, which content and approaches work on each and why

Language requirements:

  • Language: Fluent written and spoken Indonesian and English
Desirable qualifications, skills and experience
  • Prior working experience with internal trade organisations, trade publications, consultancies, will be an advantage.
  • Understanding of government ways of working and the UK PLC offer.
