WHO Indonesia Country Office collaborates with the Government of Indonesia and relevant stakeholders within the framework of the collaborative Country Cooperation Strategy (CCS), to actively support the development and implementation of national health policies, strategies and plans for strengthening the work in promoting health through the life course.
The WCO-Indonesia programme of work supports the Government of Indonesia in :
Under the direct supervision of TO (Health & Environment) and overall guidance of the WHO Representative, the incumbent will lead WCO-Indonesia team working on promoting health through the life course and will have the following responsibilities:
1. Provide technical guidance and managerial support to the WHO Country office team working on promoting health through the life course, facilitate the development and the implementation of the relevant work plans under the WHO-Government of Indonesia collaborative programme and ensure the monitoring and evaluation of related activities;
2. Promote the generation of evidence on promoting health through the life course and contribute to informed policy decisions by government and provide cutting edge policy advice;
3. Help improve the information system on promoting health through the life course and the monitoring of progress towards UHC and facilitate its integration into the national health information system;
4. Provide technical assistance and support for the development and adaptation to the country context of the relevant WHO's normative materials (policy, strategies, guidelines, SOPs and production and/or adaptation of reports);
5. Liaise and coordinate with concerned technical units/ departments of MOH and other concerned Ministries, WHO/SEARO and WHO/HQ and with donor and development partners (UN and bilateral) to harmonize recommendations on policies and strategies related to promoting health through the life course and advocate for inter-sectorial actions to address determinants;
6. Contribute to the management of WCO's knowledge and advise on matters regarding universal health coverage of promoting health through the life course, such as maternal and neonatal health, sexual and reproductive health, child and adolescent health and healthy ageing;
7. Advise in strengthening and integrating, innovative private sector engagement models, research and innovations in the promotion of health through the life course approach;
8. Ensure technical quality and relevance of contractual engagements with partners and institutions, make recommendations to the supervisors regarding WHO's support;
9. Collaborate with MOH and other concerned Ministries and provinces to undertake gap analyses and support capacity building efforts in deficient areas to ensure that priorities are fulfilled;
10. Contribute to evaluating the impact of WHO's collaboration with Indonesia (aggregated and area specific) and to developing evaluation tools (e.g. defining the necessary performance indicators);
11. Support information brokering/exchange function of WCO Indonesia through contributions to the health information repository at the WCO Indonesia by collation, analysis and sharing of relevant health information and statistics;
12. Contribute to the external relationships, representation, communication and advocacy work of the WCO Indonesia aimed at improving health system transparency and accountability;
13. Prepare administrative and technical reports and presentations as necessary; and
14. Undertake any other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor or WHO Representative.
Essential: University degree in medicine.
Desirable: Advance university degree in medicine; and postgraduate degree in Public Health or Obstetrics and Gynecology. Training or postgraduate degree with specialization in RMNCAH areas.
Essential: At least 5 years of professional experience with progressive responsibility in technical assistance to RMNCAH policy analysis/strategies and implementation of programmes.
Desirable: Experience with UN and/or other International organizations is a plus.
Essential: Expert knowledge of English.
Remuneration comprises an annual base salary starting at IDR 734,382,000 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
