About the role


As the Head of Risk Strategy - Transport & Logistic you will focus on identifying potential fraud patterns and risks in our mobility product streams (GoCar, GoRide, GoTaxi, GoSend, GoBox) and improving user experience. You will have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment in a highly cross-functional organization that includes wider Risk management, Data Science, Engineering, Product Management, Business, Operations & Finance and, help in identifying and mitigating bad actors on the platform.

Your role as the goalkeeper for both the Transport & Logistic business is to save millions of dollars from fraudulent actors trying to defraud Gojek using just your laptop, wits, and number-crunching skills. Why is this role exciting? It’s a cat and mouse game between you and hackers out there. What can be more exciting than that?!



What you will do

  • Lead a team of risk strategists across multiple countries in planning, executing, and monitoring of fraud-related sanctions, policies, and rules
  • Lead the effort to connect bridges and understand business and operation teams’ paint points and devise executable solutions
  • Lead risk assessment process for new product/feature, campaign designs, incentive schemes, new business models, systems, policies, and processes, and drive the deployment of mitigation measures
  • Communicate frequently with leadership and key stakeholders on a regular basis on status, health, and opportunities to combat fraudulent activities
  • Identify and predict blockers, conflicts, and risks to projects across multiple teams and seek solutions to drive timely execution and if needed prioritize projects to achieve the team’s goals
  • Extract and present insights from large datasets to identify fraud patterns and lead mitigation efforts
  • Conduct regular reviews to track the effectiveness of fraud rules, in order to recalibrate and improve accordingly
  • Support operations team for investigations and appeals

What you will need

  • At least 8-10 years of experience in analytical, problem-solving roles in a fast-paced environment (prior experience in fraud/risk domain is preferred)
  • At least 5 years of people leadership experience is a must. Have managed multi-cultured team members
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills focused on improving collaboration, knowledge, and information exchange across various stakeholders
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy and present them clearly and coherently to various stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently, take quick decisions & recommend effective solutions on a day-to-day basis, always backed by strong data points
  • Adept at wrangling both structured & unstructured data and crunch insights with the help of SQL, BigQuery, Python, R, etc., and visualization tools like Tableau, DataStudio, etc
  • Exposed to building statistical models using both unsupervised & supervised learning algorithms is a plus

Our team consists of multinational and multi-background individuals, working together to anticipate and predict potential threats to our platform, design and build tools to fight against and mitigate these threats, and implement and enforce these systems at scale. We partner closely with several cross-functional teams to ensure safe and secure transactions for our users, our Gojek businesses, and our extended ecosystem.

Our team is constantly working on projects that continuously bolster our platform, maintain Gojek’s overall integrity, and improve the resilience of our ecosystem across all the countries and regions we operate in. When we aren’t busy fighting potential risks and fraud on our Gojek platform, you’d probably find us binge-watching Netflix shows, testing out new food spots around town (mostly ordering in to ensure social distancing), and chatting about our coming week on our weekly Zoom calls. Once COVID subsides, we’re excited to be able to meet and socialize over a meal again.
