About the Team

The SEAC Financial Risk Management (FRM) go-to-market team provides financial risk model design and development, model validation, testing and other advanced data analytics services. In particular, we focus on credit risk, economic capital, operational risk, and insurance risk models. We also advise clients on various banking and insurance regulatory standards, including IFRS 9, IFRS 17, Basel II & III and Risk-Based Capital requirements.

In recent years, financial institutions have faced unprecedented changes in the regulatory and business environment. Banks and insurers are challenged with developing new and complex techniques to understand, capture and mitigate various risks. SEAC FRM helps leading global and domestic banks and insurers in South East Asia to quantify and manage risk.

Our aspiration is to build on the technical expertise and international experience of our team across Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines and Vietnam. About the Role

Contribute to our growing IFRS 17 market offering across South-East Asia through the application of your actuarial expertise and managerial skills.

  • Develop and review IFRS 17 technical accounting decisions and actuarial modelling approaches
  • Translate technical accounting decisions and modelling approaches into business and system requirements
  • Perform quantitative impact studies to assist clients’ understanding of the financial impacts of IFRS 17
  • Perform actuarial data gap assessments and develop data solutions
  • Work alongside IFRS 17 system vendor to ensure business and system required are understood and implemented accurately
  • Conduct end-to-end testing of IFRS 17 actuarial systems
  • Lead a team of actuarial analysts on IFRS 17 project delivery
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with IFRS 17 project stakeholders
  • Apply judgement, initiative and lateral thinking to problem-solving
  • Contribute to insurance-related thought leadership and business development initiatives across South-East Asia
  • Support the Directors and Partners in the development of the Risk Consulting practice across South-East Asia

Other than IFRS 17, you will work with our insurance clients and our internal cross line of service teams to:

  • Deliver finance and actuarial transformation/modernisation projects which help address our clients’ evolving needs in the finance and actuarial functions along the dimensions of insight, efficiency, effectiveness and control

  • University degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g. Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Financial Engineering)
  • Minimum 6 years experience in an actuarial role within the life insurance industry (Pricing and/or Reserving)
  • Understanding of IFRS 17 and Risk-Based Capital reporting
  • Working knowledge of actuarial cashflow modelling software (such as Prophet (incl. ALS), Python, Tyche) and valuation data management programs (such as SQL) preferable
  • Proven ability to lead teams and collaborate with various project stakeholders
  • Analytical and independent thinker with strong English written and verbal communication skills
