What is expected?
Provide professional, timely, cost-effective and practical legal advice and support the airline business, while leading a team of lawyers in all legal corporate affairs. In this leadership position, the incumbent is tasked with the implementation of key legal processes that relate to legal drafting, negotiations, and commercial settlement agreements.
Key Responsibilities:
Manages multiple and complex legal matters, cases or projects efficiently, on time and to an appropriate standard, leveraging commercial skills to manage resources and costs. Overseeing and ensuring legal compliance across the business, maintaining the business’s integrity both internally and externally (reputational risk).
Ensures appropriate risk and issue management by organizing effective processes and procedures for supervision and delegation
Proactively monitors for changes in relevant laws and regulations and caters for those changes accordingly.
Work as part of a team and with both internal and external stakeholders from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Contribute to the team and future legal initiatives with a focus on operational excellence, continuous improvement and driving a sustainable culture of change.
Manages (identify, analyse, remove/remediate) impediments to delivering team effectiveness, surfaces and explore perspectives of a team and key stakeholders, breaks down barriers and potential misalignment and deals effectively with obstacles to overall delivery Leads and implements process improvements in the delivery of Legal Matters Special Challenges

Sharp commercial mind with the ability to assess and balance contract and reputational risk to current business situations.
Strategic thinker and is able to provide advice relating to long-term and strategic business goals.
Ability to handle a range of client demands, mixing project work and day to day transactions in a fast-paced environment.
Resilience and ability to work under pressure.
Adaptable and willing to learn, and willing to take on new challenges.
Requirements:
Law degree and professional legal qualification with strong academic background and minimum 12 - 15 years post-qualification experience working in a law firm or legal department of a medium to large international corporation.
Fluent written and spoken English
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly in clearly explaining legal concepts and issues to non-lawyers and providing succinct, accurate and comprehensible legal advice.
Knowledge of the legal areas relevant in airlines will be an added advantage.
Ability to understand and take account of business drivers and needs, and to draft contracts with appropriate understanding and interpretation of the commercial intentions.
Strong influencing, negotiating and facilitation skills.
Exposure to international civil and/or common law contracts.
Ability to work on a number of issues in parallel.
Ability to develop and sustain relationships with clients at all levels and in a range of cultures.
