About the role
Reel is currently looking for a creative, talented, and motivated Operations Lead Designer to join our fully distributed team and get flat daily pay to help our designer create incredible designs for our clients.
The Operations Lead Designer manages and oversees a team of 15+ designers and a portfolio of 100+ clients. It's a hybrid role that is highly diversified and constantly evolves as the company grows.
The Operations Lead Designer handles daily workload management, quality control, creative talent management, performance review, training and onboarding, and external communication.
The ideal candidate should be talented but able to understand our clients' expectations who are startups founders across the world who love beautiful and minimal designs. If you are startup curious like us and want to help design the next unicorn logo, you are gradely welcome to join us.
Duties and Responsibilities
Workload management* Read and understand all client briefs to match every design project to the right designer who has the skills and talents necessary to handle the project.
Make sure every request is being worked on once assigned, and designers are not under or overworking.
Ensure all designers get a minimum of 5 assigned projects per working day.
Ensure all designers are available to work and complete assigned projects and respect our promised deadlines (24h delivery).
Collaborate with clients and designers for rush delivery projects who need to be delivered in 4-8 hours.
Quality Control* Perform thorough quality checks on all projects, make sure all first output matches the client's brief, and suggest initial revisions if necessary.
Review all design projects before sending them to clients to ensure designers respect clients' briefs, expectations, delays, and the quality standard and guidelines imposed by Reel.
Collaborate actively with designers to make sure they respect revision delays and maintain tremendous and active communication with clients.
Review final delivery or native sources files before they are sent to clients to ensure all design elements are appropriately set and accessible for future needs of clients and other designers.
Creative talent management: * Lead your team and their projects by properly managing designer availability, delays, local holidays, internal and external communication, problems resolution, and SOPs implementation.
Manage and approve daily reports of completed works handled by designers in your team to ensure all requests assigned to them are delivered and marked as completed.
Ensure designers maintain a good reputation on the platform by being rated higher than 4/5 stars.
Submit detailed daily reports of completed projects to the management team.
Work closely with designers and the operations team on new initiatives that improve design quality and service delivery.
Performance review: * With the management team's help, conduct tri-monthly performance reviews for all team members to ensure all designers who collaborate with us remain highly motivated and dedicated.
Training and onboarding* Conduct online one-on-one and group training with designers in your team regarding onboarding, customer communication, time management, etc.
External communication and customer success* Manage communication between clients and designers daily and supervise designers' communications regarding project deliverables.
Provide clients with real-time updates about their projects, billing, and subscriptions.
Handling clients who need solutions to complex situations
Communicate and support clients quite often via customer support chat, e-mail, or video call.
Qualifications and requirements
Get excited when someone talks about startups and unicorns
Excellent English communication and comprehension skills
1-3 years of experience in graphic design or web design
Management or Leadership experience
Strong ability to use collaboration and productivity tools like: * Google Workspace

Good interpersonal skills and client-handling experience
Strong communication, conceptual thinking, typography skills, and design skills
Able to work 9 AM - 6 PM US Eastern Time

Understand the balance between perfect design and getting to market
Have a high-speed and consistent internet connection (not less than 20MBPS, with backups)
Own a reliable computer that meets these requirements: * Has a working web camera installed for application
Familiarity with live chat/Marketplace chat/Call center systems (zendesk, livechat, chatbot, etc) is a plus.
