Australia-Indonesia Partnership for Promoting Rural Incomes through Support for Markets in Agriculture (PRISMA) is a multi-year development program working to accelerate poverty reduction through inclusive economic growth. PRISMA adopts a market systems development approach by partnering with key-stakeholders to improve agriculture market efficiency and sustainably benefit the poor. The program aims to achieve an income increase for a total of 1,000,000 smallholder farming households by 2023. It operates in six provinces of Central Java, East Java, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), West Papua, and Papua.
Project Overview and Role:
The vegetable sector in the Papua region involves approximately 250,000 households which compromise of indigenous farmers (85%) and transmigrant farmers (15%). Particularly in areas dominated by indigenous Papuans, women play a critical role in agriculture production activities, ranging from land preparation, purchasing inputs to harvesting and managing the income from agriculture. PT Agrosid Manunggal Sentosa (hereinafter referred to as Agrosid) is a new market actor in Papua and West Papua who would like to market its high-quality vegetable seeds for lowland areas and to promote Good Agriculture Practices (GAP) to farmers in Papua and West Papua. As part of Agrosid’s marketing strategy, PRISMA through the graphic designer will help Agrosid to adopt the local context of Papua and West Papua in its promotional tools production such as posters, banners, standing banners, and T-shirts. These promotional tools will be used to promote high-quality vegetable seed and disseminate GAP information to farmers in social groups meetings, public spaces, and other effective platforms.
The local graphic designer will be linked to assist Agrosid with the objective to develop and modify the company's promotional tools (poster, banner, standing banner, and T-shirt) in order to incorporate the local context of Papua and West Papua, making its promotional tools more appealing to the target audience of indigenous and transmigrant vegetable farmers in the Papua region.
