About the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT)
The role of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) is to advance the interests of Australia and Australians internationally. This involves strengthening Australia’s security, enhancing Australia’s prosperity, delivering an effective and high quality development program and helping Australian travellers and Australians overseas.
The department provides foreign, trade and development policy advice to the Australian Government. DFAT also works with other Australian government agencies to drive coordination of Australia’s pursuit of global, regional and bilateral interests.
About the Australian Embassy Media section
The Media section is responsible for the Australian Embassy, Jakarta’s media and messaging in support of the Australian Government’s policy objectives. It works with Australian government agencies in Indonesia, Australia and in the region to project a positive and balanced image of Australia and its policies.
About the position
Working as part of a team, the Media Officer is responsible for providing media and public affairs services for the Australian Embassy, Jakarta. Under direction from senior staff, the position is required to work proficiently with Indonesian media, and relevant stakeholders.
