Summary:The work schedule for this position is:
Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (4 weeks) of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.
This position supports the Environment, Science, Technology and Health (ESTH) Unit in the Economic Section to execute programs which include organizing public outreach, logistics coordination, as well as liaison and coordination work with U.S. agencies and local Indonesian and international institutions. Some research, analysis, oral and written reporting are also required. Issues and projects will be assigned based on Section needs, and cover environment, climate change, science and technology, health, and other economic topics as needed. The incumbent is supervised by an Economic Officer in the ESTH Unit and will act as an ESTH officer when an Embassy officer is not present.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 3 years of professional work experience in at least one or a combination of the following fields: public relations or public diplomacy; event planning; environment or science policy; or research and writing is required.
(Please note that one credited year of working experience is equal to 40 hours/week x 52 weeks or 2080 hours.)
Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, International Affairs/Relations, Law, Economics, Environmental Studies, or Environmental Science, is required.
(Please note if you are graduated from a foreign university, then you need to submit US education equivalency certification.)
LANGUAGE: Fluent in Speaking/Reading/Writing of English is required (This maybe tested).
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must be able to obtain a secret clearance. Ability to represent the U.S. Embassy to local institutions, people, and international organizations. Strong organizational skills and the ability to lead and work on teams. Honed oral and written communication skills. Adaptability is key given the complex and often shifting environment in which we conduct ESTH and Economic diplomacy in Indonesia.
