JOB DESCRIPTIONS
The Field Service Technician is responsible for providing hands-on field Installation, repairs, and technical support for Metso Outotec customers and/or third-party contractors in existing and/or newly acquired retrofit/rebuild/replacement equipment. Project the image of Metso Outotec as the service-oriented company to depend on for competent field service support on mining equipment for maintenance, repairs, upgrades, and operation. The Field Service Technician position requires strong experience as a Field Service Technician with a background in mechanical and maintenance work as well as in depth knowledge of mining equipment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prior to arrival at field assignment location, study, plan, and prepare for field work based on the detailed scope of work, drawings, specifications, Metso Outotec and customer policies/procedures/rules/regulations/safety, specific instructions, etc.
Provide technical and hands-on service during demolition and installation, checkout, start-up, and commissioning to ensure safety and proper equipment and system erection is in accordance with contract designs and drawing requirements.
Perform various millwright tasks such as, but not limited to, installation and Refurbish Mills, Crusher, Screens, Pump, etc.
Repair and maintenance various types of process equipment such as crushers, conveyers, pumps, screens, mills, etc.
Read Micrometers, Calipers, Machinist Levels, Pi Tapes as well as other precision measuring equipment.
Troubleshoot fit/form problems and advise/assist on corrective action and repairs.
Removes rough spots from work piece, suing portable grinder, hand file, or scraper.
Keep Field Service Supervisor/ Manager or project manager up to date on field progress, problems, delays, etc.
Keep accurate records regarding job progress, delays, problems, deliveries, changes, extras, and engineering and fabrication errors.
Document all job delays and their cause and ensure client comprehends and signs the documentation.
Communications with the client to ensure satisfaction with job progress and quality.
Insure client issues proper documentation for extra work and changes.
Work in liaison with the various technical support departments within the Metso Outotec organization.
Visit or stay at customers site with the field service /sales force to develop and grow service business opportunities.
Perform work using safe and proper methods and procedures to maintain and repair Metso Outotec equipment.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Field Service Supervisors, LCS Supervisors or Field Service/LCS Manager.
Overtime work often required (evenings, weekends, holidays).

Mechanical knowledge and abilities a must.
Capability to understand the various product applications marketed by Metso Outotec.
Ability to read and interpret imperial and metric tape measurers, and engineering and architectural drawings. Ability to use and interpret dial indicators, calipers, micrometers is a plus.
Work directly with Safety, Supervisors, and co-workers to conduct the work safely
Ability to travel
Good attendance record and willingness to work rotating shifts, or long hours (including evenings, weekends, and holidays).
Ability to use all extremities to efficiently operate manual tools, power tools, office and computer equipment.
Climbing of, and working on, stairs, ladders, and scaffolding, occasionally at extreme heights, is required.
Capable of performing basic torch cutting skills using oxygen and acetylene, air arc.
Must understand basic rigging
Ability to stay in remote locations for extended periods and have the stamina to work long hours during emergency breakdowns and peak periods.
Must have the stamina to work extended hours. Requires the ability to work in a variety of environments that may include exposure to heat, cold, humidity, fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, loud noise and all types of weather conditions
QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE.
Associate Degree preferred in Engineering or Quality Engineering with precision dimensional inspection experience.
Two or more years of mechanical maintenance experience
Requires the ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings.
Ability to make mechanical drawings with geometric tolerances is required.
Understand both Metric and Imperial dimensions.
Clear communication skills both verbally and written.
