At Caterpillar’s Indonesia Batam, we manufacture Hydraulic Shovels products used in building the infrastructure and mining to move materials that makes a better world.
When you join as a Supplier Quality Supervisor at Caterpillar Indonesia Batam you will provide on-site assistance & leadership to Caterpillar’s supply base in the execution of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), the implementation of process control and the deployment of a continuous quality improvement process. To ensure that suppliers are able to meet corporate and business unit requirements for certification and quality of purchased material.
As the Supplier Quality Supervisor , you will:
Lead a team of Supplier Quality Engineers to manage nonconformities on time to not slow down production.
Work with suppliers to ensure that robust process controls are in place to prevent nonconformities, to continuously monitor supplier’s key manufacturing processes and quality management system for improvement opportunities and assist suppliers with implementation of robust defect prevention processes
Manages supplier’s project plans and activities to ensure product meets Caterpillar expectations. Ensures all relevant requirements and related changes are thoroughly documented.
Ensures resolution and implementation of robust solutions for quality problems associated with purchased materials and engineering issues. Responsible for the review, approval and validation of 8D permanent corrective action plans. Performs quality management system audits and Supplier Evaluation Surveys (SES), including assessments of potential new suppliers. Supports SPQ (Supplier Production Quality) projects. Participates in the development of Supplier quality metrics.
Participates in Supplier Performance Management Reviews (SPM).
Supports Caterpillar 6 Sigma initiatives with suppliers. Executes assigned activities from Concurrent Product and Process Development (CPPD), New Product Introduction (NPI) and Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) teams. Works with suppliers to reduce waste and improve supplier process capability and efficiency.
Development & report out of supplier performance metrics
You will report directly to a Quality Manager and you will supervise or manages a work unit of hourly or salaried employees where planning, scheduling, training, monitoring, and reviewing work of subordinates is required, and is responsible for all personnel issues and performance evaluation of subordinates.
The successful candidate must bring:
Fluency in English.
A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) preferably in engineering.
A minimum of five years of job-related experience with prior supervisory experience.
Knowledge of the tools and techniques of 6 Sigma methodology and will likely be attained through prior completion of Green Belt training and/or other 6 Sigma experience.
Knowledge of Supplier Quality Management, Lean manufacturing, an understanding of lean principles.
Good interpersonal communication, analytical, leadership and project management skills to develop a cooperative working relationship with others both inside and outside of Caterpillar.
Capable of using and demonstrating statistical and problem-solving tools.
Top candidates will also bring:
Quality engineering certification.
Engineering or manufacturing background plus familiarity with manufacturing processes used to produce components and assemblies for heavy equipment products.
