The British School (BSJ) was established in 1973 under the auspices of the British embassy. It has developed into a truly international school with over 44 nationalities in attendance, from Foundation Stage to Year 13 (3 - 18 year olds).
The school is looking for a dynamic leader of the Primary to carry on the sterling work of the Head of Primary, Mr Shane Nathan, who is assuming another leadership role in the school. The BSJ Primary School has a wonderful reputation as a vibrant learning community in world class facilities from the age of 4 - 11. Primary students follow a curriculum that has foundations of EYFS, the UK National Curriculum and the International Primary Curriculum (IPC). The thread of learning that begins in Primary is one that is inquiry based with a host of enrichment activities to provide a truly holistic learning experience. In the last two years, the school has used the time and resources to good effect, with a complete refurbishment of the classroom areas in Key Stage 1 & 2.
BSJ takes great pride in its partnerships with global organisations to provide expertise and learning opportunities that are unique for our students and staff at the school. Examples of this is our Wellbeing programme being supported by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the Langley Group Australia. In addition, the school has recently signed a long term partnership with Manchester City Football Club that will see a fantastic collaboration and the creation of a specialist Football School Program that matches our sporting ambition with our outstanding facilities.
The school is set in an eighteen hectare campus in the south of the city and is recognised as having teaching and sporting facilities of the highest quality (which includes an olympic-sized swimming pool and contemporary theatre complex) and the warmth of our community makes BSJ an enjoyable place to work.
