YPL and BV develop locally led approaches to support marine conservation that benefit people and nature alike. By listening and responding to basic needs, we design our models to catalyse and sustain marine conservation, unlocking the potential of coastal communities to manage their resources. We work in places where the ocean is vital to local cultures and economies, and are committed to advancing the rights of small-scale fishers throughout the coastal tropics.
Yayasan Pesisir Lestari (YPL) is a Bali-based marine conservation organisation that aims to empower coastal communities managing their local marine ecosystems in ways that enrich livelihoods and sustain healthy oceans for generations to come. Based in Bali, in cooperation with Blue Ventures, a UK-based marine conservation organisation, we're building partnerships with local organisations who work closely with coastal communities across provinces in Indonesia.
We are currently recruiting a Fisheries and Data Technician to support our efforts assisting local partner organisations in Indonesia, Philippines and Papua New Guinea. The role will entail providing technical assistance to partner organisations involved in community-based fisheries management, and sharing technical and marine resource management experiences. Reporting to the Fisheries Lead, this is a full time role based in Pesisir Lestari Denpasar office, with regular travel to work closely with colleagues, partners, field teams and communities.
The candidate should be open to new ideas, embrace innovation and be able to demonstrate experience in supporting effective working partnerships for conservation development. Assessment of applications will include candidates’ alignment with YPL’s core values and mission to support human rights-based approaches to marine conservation and fisheries management.
Applicants should apply online via Blue Ventures website (https://blueventures.org/about/careers/), by 15 September 2021
Please note all shortlisted candidates will be contacted within two weeks of the closing date.
