USAID SINAR has an immediate opening for mid-level professional with excellent writing and communication skills to support its communications activities. This position will manage an annual editorial plan for social media channels, develop success stories from various project activities, create and/or curate other content such as short video clips, photographs, and captions, conduct real time coverage of events, as well as contribute to media relations activities.

This position liaises with Strategic Programs Director; coordinates with Monitoring and Evaluation Manager, other technical staff and component leads, selected project stakeholders; reports directly to Communications and Reporting Manager.


Responsibilities:

Content management

  • Contribute to development of an annual editorial plan for USAID SINAR’s website, newsletter, social media channels such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
  • Curate and develop creative content from project activities to maintain USAID SINAR’s digital presence. Creative content includes short videos, project photographs, video clips, infographics (including charts and graphs), captions and quotes.
  • Manage visual databank.
  • Adhere to USAID’s marking requirements for acquisition awards: Graphic Standards Manual and ADS 320.

Project publications and deliverables

  • Copywrite project write-ups and deliverables.
  • Curate and develop success stories from project activities.
  • Manage project publications and deliverables databank.
  • Support development of project publications, study, research.
  • Adhere to USAID standards in writing and editing as seen in https://usaidindonesia.exposure.co/, https://www.usaid.gov/indonesia/stories, https://stories.usaid.gov/
  • Apply principles of basic journalism in developing stories, which includes verification and fact checking.

Project events

  • Manage communications events.
  • Copywrite pre-event documents such as event summary, talking points, scene setters, briefing memo, speakers and VIP profiles.
  • Conduct real time coverage of project events in collaboration with technical staff on the ground.
  • Provide general communications support to project events.

Social media and media relations

  • Monitor simple social media metrics.
  • Conduct regular media monitoring on issues and keywords related to renewable energy, sustainable financing, utility, energy policy, and others.
  • Conduct media relations activities.
  • Maintain media contacts.

Deliverables:

  • Content calendar.
  • Success stories and other types of write-ups, social media posts, curated photographs.
  • Social media posts and metrics reports.

Essential KSA’s required (experience, skills, education, certification, etc.):
  • Any bachelor’s degree with minimum 5 years of experiences in writing and copywriting in English and Indonesian.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and Indonesian.
  • Ability to deliver technical content in engaging manner for wider audience.
  • Possess interest in development sector, especially in renewable energy, energy policy, sustainable finance, utility, investment.
  • Client-oriented, team player, positive attitude, and adhere to professional ethics.
  • Exposure to government liaison and newsroom experience are a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and follow deadlines.
  • Willingness to go the extra miles.
  • Perform well under pressure.

Valued but not required KSA’s:
  • Familiarity with USAID procedures and practices is preferred.
