Sr/Staff Engineer - Automation
Job Description
As an Automation Engineer, you will be enabling factory automation solutions to aid manufacturing goals on cycle time, inventory, quality and productivity. You are encouraged to assimilate core expertise on mechanical or electrical design, sub-components, industry best known methods, safety requirements. You must collaborate with global automation, key equipment group, site process and equipment engineering, procurement, safety EHS for surfacing opportunities, prioritize key initiatives, collaborating with solution providers, execute the implementation plan, reviewing safety standards.
Responsibilities and Tasks
Comply to standards in enabling automation solutions
  • Standardize mechanical and electrical design, sub-assemblies, process control & vision solutions
  • Ensure supplier compliance to safety & ergonomic standards, both SEMI and country specific codes
  • Develop and review process tool automation requirements (TAR) for host development and interfacing AMHS
  • Redefine factory tool layout standards to accommodate automation elements
  • Publish Design for Automation guidelines on new products
  • Support the development & implementation of IoT improvements projects
  • You would require a personable demeanor, ability to learn, independence and strong problem solving skills to seek and implement control system solutions
  • Lead all topics related to electronics and motion controls .
  • Lead for all integration with smart sensors & IO link, and interface to drive the data and smart analytics.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Brainstorm opportunities and build roadmap on factory automation
  • Build business requirements and establish user acceptance criteria
  • Approve design review on automation solutions
  • Write technical procurement specification (Doc2/TAR) provided to vendors
  • Review and approve ROI analysis methodology

Execute to Plan on Automation Roadmap
  • Establish project plan and publish Gantt chart for progress
  • Steadfast focus on execution and efficiently handle exceptions/ contingency
  • Drive innovation that reaps significant bottom-line benefits
  • Train the workforce on new systems and hardware

Establish performance metrics for automation solution at manufacturing network
  • Ensure solutions meet the requirements on payback analysis published
  • Build & publish metrics related to Host, RMS, Handlers, AMHS and Stocker performance
  • Ensure compliance to material control, data collection and traceability requirements
  • improve the traceability related to product movement
  • Improve automation process on site and support automation related improvement projects from other sites
  • review and drive system performance improvement through CIP program

Education
Degree with shown experience in Engineering - prefer Electronics, Mechatronics, Electrical fields
Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years work experience in electronics or semiconductor manufacturing environment familiarity with SMT process, product test, handlers, electronic packing is helpful
  • Knowledge on tool design elements and sub-components
  • Familiarity on Standards for safety (SEMI S2, CE, TUV), Ergonomics (SEMI S8), tool automation protocols (SEMI)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work across various functional team & various job level
  • Ability to work in both strategic and tactical space driving holistic solutions
  • Experienced in handling automation projects and execution
  • Proficient various PLC logic and basic / advanced software programming (C#, C++) to enhance automation logic, system flow efficiency and / or detection capability.
  • Proficient in schematic diagrams and electronics related field .
  • Good understanding in equipment to system communication protocol .
  • Good knowledge in RF technology will be an added advantage .
  • Familiar with various control systems .
  • Experienced in robotics will be an added advantage .
  • Experienced in test environment will be an added advantage
  • Can Do mentality with tenacious drive for results
  • Highly motivated and possess a positive demeanor.
